Setting the SATA config to Compatibility mode worked like a charm! Asked for some info about the laptop then gave me a link to the driver. I had to disable flash module and switch from AHCI to ATA on a Dell. You have to switch the hard-drive to ‘Compatible' to disable SATA.

The only problem is that almost every manufacturer seems to distribute their drivers in floppy disk image form, even though the computer they are for doesn't have a floppy drive. My son's is a presario. I solved my problem by reading it. Well damage done.
